A blend of 79% Malbec, 15% Bonarda and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, the former two grown in vineyards planted in 1948, the Cabernet Sauvignon being planted in 1999. Varieties are fermented separately due to different ripening and harvest dates, however, a micro-vinification is also carried out to co-ferment parcels of Malbec and Bonarda. The wine undergoes an 18-month maturation in French oak barrels, 60% of which is new. The nose shows complex aromas of dark chocolate, prune and tobacco; the palate develops a sweet, ripe fruit theme, followed by notes of chocolate and spice.
