This is an unusual wine since most rioja is made from either 100% Tempranillo or a very high proportion of Tempranillo in the blend. The Graciano that goes into the Bodegas Navajas wine is all from old vines with low yields and is relatively late harvested – normally in the first week of October. The wine is aged in French and American oak barrels for 12-14 months and then given a year to rest in bottle before being released on to the market
