Alain’s son Corentin works alongside his father at the family domaine but has recently started to make wine under his own name. We’re delighted to take on the first vintage of his Mâcon Chardonnay. The grapes are from a single parcel, purchased from a grower who shares the same sustainable philosophy as the Chavy family. The grapes are sourced from two different areas of the vineyard: the highest part of the parcel which boasts mainly limestone soils and the soils at the bottom of the slope which are more marne-based. This combination of soils marries both freshness and a generous fruit character. Vinification takes place at the family domaine in Puligny where Corentin both ferments and ages in stainless-steel to retain the bright primary fruit character and freshness. Aged for eight months in stainless steel, the resulting wine is fruit-led with an expressive core of citrus and peach fruit notes, balanced by bright acidity and a long, fresh finish.
